I was born in a small town ( small to me atleast ) located in Ontario Canada. Large population, small living. My Dad and older brothers had a large influence on my interest in movies growing up. We were always either watching an action movie starring Harrison Ford, or a sports drama containing largely known actors such as Denzel Washington. That’s kind of where I began to have interest in Ryan Gosling, Remember the Titans (2000). Ryan portrayed a high school defensive lineman named Alan Bosley with a quirky, yet important role in the plot of the movie. Alan was always my favorite because of his funny comments, singing, and dancing. But, of course, he was extremely good looking too. In 2004 Ryan took on the passionate and heart-wrenching role of Noah Calhoun in The Notebook. After seeing this film my interest in Ryan completely spiraled into an obsession. I HAD to know more about this guy. I spent countless hours on IMDb and other websites sucking in fact after fact about Ryan. And it’s not like I even sat there memorizing the information I read, it was just stuck in my head after one scroll down the page. Soon I could tell you where his favorite spots were in downtown Los Angeles, and I even memorized his entire career. I then found out we had lived in the same town in Ontario at the exact same time, which was another thing to repeatedly mention to my friends. It was so fun to me, but I could tell making connections to Ryan Gosling every 5 seconds began to bother friends and family. Ha, well that was too bad for them. I graduated from looking up information to printing pictures. I would change my background on my phone everyday trying to pick a picture that was better looking than the others, which was a bit of a challenge since Ryan never takes a bad picture. My room consists of multiple collages of Ryan through the years, a t-shirt I asked for at Christmas with the words “Hello my name is Mrs. Gosling” written on a name-tag, and the same patterned jumpin-jammerz Ryan modeled on an episode of Ellen in early January. I had gone off the deep-end. But, I liked it. I still like it.
